This AN/PEQ has functional IR caps that work on both the flashlight and the green laser as well as a separate IR illuminator, so it can be used with IR-sensitive instruments such as night vision goggles.

Modes:
- AL - Flashlight, illuminates only when the button is pressed
- O - Flashlight, double press turns the device on without holding the button
- P - LASER mode, double press turns on the device without holding the button
- AL - Flashlight and LASER, double press turns on the device without holding the button
- DL - IR illuminator, double press turns the device on without holding the button
