Kythera has been PolarStar's most anticipated product in the last decade. This HPA system is a radical departure from all previous systems PolarStar has produced, as the Kythera does not use a battery, FCU or any type of electronics. The Kythera system is completely mechanical. This means you never have to worry about charging batteries or working with sensitive electronics. It also means that the system is completely waterproof.
The first of these systems is the Kythera SA (Semi-Automatic), a semi-automatic variant designed for use only in AEG gearboxes.

Realistic trigger

This system differs from the other mechanical systems by the design of the trigger. The trigger mechanism is designed to replicate the function, weight and feel of a real single-action firearm trigger. The feel is real because it is real. The hardened alloy steel grooves catch and release the stainless steel spool valve in the same way that the grooves of a real firearm catch and release a hammer or firing pin. As a result, the Kythera's trigger is distinctly intermittent and resets as you would expect when firing a true single-action firearm. The trigger mechanism in the Kythera SA pistol is also adjustable, allowing the user to fine-tune the weight and stroke. In addition, the internal trigger valve is balanced and the only force applied during firing is the mainspring. This means that the function and feel of the trigger are independent of input pressure and velocity.

Complete cycle of the shot

The design of the Kythera SA pistol completes the cycle of the shot when the trigger is pulled. As a result, you get the proven performance of the Fusion Engine and F2 sealed bolt in a fully mechanical, watertight system with a realistic trigger. It does not require the trigger to be released before the nozzle charges the next round and fills the firing volume. This happens automatically and consistently with each shot with adjustable nozzle dwell and recoil rate.
Since the system immediately resets and reloads after firing, it is ready to fire again before the trigger is released. This means the system can cycle very quickly for faster follow-up shots and less chance of double feeds.

Extremely efficient and consistent

Kythera's valve design operates without the need for air to control the opening or closing of the valve. Without a pilot valve, 100% of the air entering the system is discharged through the nozzle, allowing for very efficient operation.

Wide range of speed settings

The Kythera has a wide operating pressure range from 60psi to 180psi, which allows fine adjustment of system speed and adaptation to different requirements and applications. Within this pressure range, we have observed a muzzle velocity of 270 - 500fps w/ 0.20g using a 6.05x380mm barrel. This allows a single Kythera to be used in any role from CQB to sniper barrel by simply adjusting the inlet pressure from the air kit.
