Kythera has been the most anticipated product from PolarStar for the past decade. This HPA system is a radical departure from all previous systems that PolarStar has produced, as the Kythera does not use a battery, FCU or any type of electronics.
Kythera is completely mechanical, you will never have to worry about charging batteries or working with delicate electronics. Its system is completely waterproof.
The first of these systems is the Kythera SA (Semi-Automatic), the only semi-automatic variant for use in AEG gearboxes.
The trigger mechanism weighs and acts like a true single-action firearm trigger. This is because it is designed and manufactured like a real firearm trigger.
The Kythera SA is also adjustable, allowing the user to fine tune the weight and elevation. In addition, the internal ejection valve is balanced and the only force applied during firing is the mainspring. This means that the function and feel of the trigger are independent of the input pressure and velocity.
About the complete cycle of shots
It does not require the trigger to be released before the chambers of the nozzle are filled with the next round and the firing volume is refilled. This occurs automatically and consistently with each shot, with adjustable nozzle dwell time and recoil rate.
Since the system resets and reloads immediately after firing, it is ready to fire again before the trigger is released. This means the system can cycle very quickly for faster follow-up shots and less potential for double feeding.
The Kythera valve design operates without the need for air to control the opening or closing of the valve. Without a control valve, 100% of the air entering the system is discharged through the nozzle, allowing for very efficient operation. In addition to being extremely efficient, the system is also extremely consistent. The valve is released at the same point with the same force every time the gun is fired, regardless of the trigger input.
Universal charging cable
The steel cord visible on the back of the system is attached to the tensioning mechanism for the internal spool valve. Although the system will automatically tension the spool valve when the system is pressurized, since the Kythera uses a balanced valve, in certain situations the valve may stop and need to be manually tensioned. This usually only happens if the system is completely free of air, so that the pressure drops below the operating range of the system. The cable is designed to either be routed through the rifle handle for easy access, or can even be attached to the charging handle in some way.
Installation
The Kythera SA system installs into a standard transmission as a single assembly and typically requires no modification to the transmission. No separate parts are required for installation and the only parts that need to be left off the transmission are the trigger, spring guide, selector lever and safety components.
Wide range of speed adjustment
The Kythera has a wide operating pressure range of 60 psi to 180 psi with an observed muzzle velocity of 270 - 500 frames per second at 0.20 g using a 6.05 x 380 mm barrel.
Weight: 215g
